- Assist the Team Leader, Compliance Manager_AML and/or the Group Head of Compliance in ensuring that the organisation is complying with all relevant laws, regulations and industry codes and standards of best practices;
- Manage the AML - Monitoring & Analysis team by empowering, motivating and managing the performance of employees to promote a high-performance culture;
- Ensure that the monitoring activities of the cluster as set in the Compliance plan are duly carried out and relevant reports issued as per set time frames;
- Monitor that across the Bank, transactions monitoring alerts are being handled and properly closed in a timely manner;
- Effect file reviews of customers on which Adverse ML/TF Media cropped up and make relevant recommendations within the timeframe set;
- Ensure the customer file reviews per risk category (High/Medium/Low) are duly completed by the different lines of business in a proper and timely manner;
- Contribute to the preparation and submission of quarterly reports of Compliance SBU for Management and the Board;
- Investigate, report and make recommendations on breaches, potential breaches or regulatory issues, particularly regarding cash transactions and cross-border operations;
- Assist as required with regard to regulators in the context of the latter's on-site inspection/special examinations;
- Support assigned areas on compliance related issues, including provision of advice, and assistance in communication to external parties;
- Provide technical support and guidance for the development and delivery of training programs in relation to MCB's processes, procedures and controls, as well as AML/CFT;
- Share knowledge/experience and coach team members in respect of the various tasks effected within the AML - Monitoring & Analysis cluster and Compliance SBU, as applicable;
- Monitor data/transactions to identify trends/irregular activities which may point out cases of money laundering and secure corroborating evidence on doubtful activities in order to raise level of detection and reporting;
- Keep abreast of developments in regulatory framework, financial and banking trends and industry best practices and standards towards continuous improvement initiatives;
- Assist the Team Leader, Compliance Manager - AML in the preparation and submission of annual compliance plans for the AML - Monitoring & Analysis cluster to the Group Head of Compliance;
- Participate in the regular updates to the Enterprise Wide Risk Assessment (EWRA) exercise to allow for a prioritisation of resources to higher AML/CFT/PF risk areas identified to mitigate further these risks;
- Assist in the review of procedures for inadequacies that may ultimately entail risks and ensure that changes to business practices and products are adequately covered by MCB's procedures and controls;
- Participate in any project/initiative as may be advised by the Team Leader, Compliance Manager - AML and/or Group Head of Compliance;
- Assist the Team Leader, Compliance Manager - AML and/or Group Head of Compliance in the write-up for Compliance in Annual Reports of MCB Ltd & MCB Group.
- Analyses and integrates potentially conflicting numerical, verbal and other information from multiple sources;
- Coaches and supports others in managing their stress levels and sustaining work levels, in light of difficult targets;

- A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Financial Services;
- Minimum 8 Years' working experience in a financial or banking environment;
- Minimum 5 Years' working experience in compliance, audit and/or legal sectors.
- 11 Years' working experience in a financial or banking environment;
- 8 Years' working experience in compliance, audit and/or legal sectors.
- Sound knowledge in banking and financial operations and procedures;
- Thorough knowledge of regulatory framework including, inter alia, Banking Act 2004, Bank of Mauritius and FSC Guidelines, Financial Services Act 2007, Prevention of Corruption Act 2002, Financial Intelligence & Anti Money Laundering Act 2002, Financial Intelligence and Anti-Money Laundering Regulations 2018, Borrowers' Protection Act 2007, Companies Act 2001, Data Protection Act 2017, The United Nations (Financial Prohibitions, Arms Embargo and Travel Ban) Sanctions Act 2019, The Anti-Money Laundering And Combatting The Financing Of Terrorism And Proliferation (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2019, and the Financial Crime Commission Act 2023;
